As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime can break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” the trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.
Does this same scenario play out in your life? Are you stuck in the same place, unaware of your ability to walk away from the patterns you have created, the story you have been living? Do you not realize it is simply your belief that you can’t do more, dream bigger and create more success that is keeping you where you are?
You have all the power to break free from your bonds at any time. Will you?
What stops you? Is it that you simply lack the awareness of your abilities? Is it fear of what is beyond the furthest place you have been? Is it contentment in staying comfortable in what you have always known.
If I were to tell you, show you, that your chains no longer have the strength to hold you captive what would you do?
Most of you would need the trainer to gently walk you beyond the boundaries you have always knows. To show you it’s safe, to believe in you.
I love this little story.
I find great joy and purpose, as the trainer, helping you to break the chains, break free from all those limiting beliefs and stories from your past that are keeping you bound from discovering your greatness.
The strength of your chain is determined by your fears and beliefs and can be broken only by you.
